Led by the Patron LAC and Chair of the Department, Dr. Wilson Ngigi and Advocate Eric Wambugu, the team provided over 80 inmates with essential legal education and one-on-one consultations. The sessions focused on the Constitutional rights of arrested persons (Art. 49), the right to a fair trial (Art. 50), and the practical application of Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) in resolving criminal disputes.

Beyond legal counsel, the initiative featured a successful Pad Drive, where students donated sanitary towels, diapers, and essential toiletries to support the inmates’ welfare. The day was further enriched by a collaborative partnership with Embu College, whose students provided beauty and cosmetology services, offering a sense of dignity and care to the women. The Patron UoEmLAC concluded the general session by emphasizing the critical role of credible evidence in the judicial process, empowering the inmates to better understand their legal standing.

The visit culminated in personalized legal aid consultations, allowing inmates to discuss their specific case progress and explore available legal remedies with the student team. By bridging the gap between classroom theory and community service, the School of Law reaffirmed its commitment to access to justice for the marginalized. The prison authorities expressed deep gratitude for the intervention, marking a significant milestone in the School’s 2026 outreach calendar.

On Tuesday, 10th March 2026, the School of Law Legal Aid Clinic (UoEmLAC), in partnership with the Moot Society and KMUN UoEm Chapter, conducted a legal aid clinic and humanitarian visit to Embu Women’s GK…

[21
